Hello, everyone! And a special hello to our moms - Judy & Cheryl. We hope all of the moms have the most fantastic weekend. MOTHER'S DAY HISTORY HIGHLIGHTS This holiday was championed by Anna Jarvis to honor her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, who was the founder of "Mothers' Day Work Clubs." These community organizations helped to improve public health and cared for soldiers on both sides of the Civil War. White carnations were chosen by Anna Jarvis to represent the endurance of a mother's love. Mother's Day was officially established in 1914 by President Woodrow Wilson making the second Sunday in May an official national holiday. CHANGE OF PLANS... We were planning on sharing our updated "Mark Twain and the Mississippi River" book with you all this weekend. But...we started working on a new exciting project that momentarily put that plan on the back burner. So, we figured we would share the story of new venture with you. NEW COLUMBIA RIVER HISTORIC HIGHWAY DRIVING TOUR We have entered into a new partnership with VoiceMap audio tours, a mobile app and publishing platform offering GPS-activated, self-guided audio tours in over 600 worldwide destinations. Our first endevor with them is a driving tour of the Historic Columbia River Highway. We hope to have our audio tour up and going in the next month. We will keep you posted once it's available. So, we decided to share our video program on that subject for FREE this weekend... FREE HISTORY PROGRAM: "The Historic Columbia River Highway" This 30-minute presentation tells the story of the characters and events that brought to reality the first paved roadway in the Pacific Northwest. It was planned with great vision to be not only an economic corridor, but a scenic roadway park to connect locals and visitors to the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge. Enjoy this truly inspirational story! The video presentation will be free of charge for one week (May 9-15) but we do provide an optional easy way for you to add a gesture of support as you access the video. CLICK HERE FOR ACCESS TO "THE HISTORIC COLUMBIA RIVER HIGHWAY" PRESENTATION This video was created for our Columbia/Snake Rivers Virtual Cruise of more than 30 history and music videos. This collection is available at a discounted price this month.
