Greetings, friends! We have just completed our Eagle Society (repeat passenger) special theme cruise from Amelia Island, FL to Charleston, SC. We have had so much fun sharing a wonderful trip with some of our favorite "frequent floaters!" We get a short break and then we're back to the Columbia and Snake River cruises. Coast to Coast! What a whirlwind!

AND THEY'RE OFF!!! TODAY IS KENTUCKY DERBY DAY!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll follow a story that unfolds along the Mississippi River—the backbone of a growing nation. We’ll step aboard the steamboats that transformed it into a highway of commerce, hear from Mark Twain, and explore the river’s crucial role in the Civil War. We’ll also take a closer look at the legendary Delta Queen, a living link to the golden age of river travel. It’s a story of movement, innovation, and conflict—flowing forward, just like the river itself.

The Mississippi River is a moving thread through American history, carrying stories of exploration, commerce, conflict, and culture from one generation to the next. In this book, you’ll travel the river from its natural beginnings to its modern role today—exploring the people, events, and turning points that shaped its legacy. From early Native American civilizations to the age of steamboats, from the Civil War to the engineering of the modern river system, the Mississippi has always been at the center of the American story.

If you missed it last week—or if you’ve been meaning to dive in—this is the perfect time. We are extending our offer (as part of our "second chance" promotion) to get our The Mississippi River: Then and Now eBook for free this weekend, May 2 & 3.

To get your FREE copy, CLICK HERE.

Remember that you can read these on any smartphone, tablet, computer, or Amazon Kindle device using the free Kindle app. Add the audiobook for just $2 or order a nice paperback edition.

AND THE FREE eBOOK THIS WEEKEND IS "STEAMBOATS CHANGED AMERICA"

To go along with the Mississippi River story, I’m also offering a second free eBook this weekend: Steamboats Changed America.

Before rails and highways, America’s rivers were the lifelines of commerce and culture. Then came the steamboat — a revolutionary marriage of steam power and river travel that transformed the rivers into bustling highways of commerce and connection—shrinking distances, fueling expansion, and opening the interior of the country in ways never before possible. It’s a perfect companion to Mississippi River Then and Now.
