MY BOOK EVENT I spoke at our local library this week to share a new presentation that weaves together history and storytelling related to the story of my historical fiction novel, "Down the Rivers of Peril." I have interwoven the historical events with short readings from scenes in my novel. Back at my book launch party, I shared a few snippets and a brief summary of the book. Then our local arts council invited me to discuss the story with them for their community podcast. And now the library event. I am so grateful for these friends, readers, and community advocates that make these opportunities possible. We enjoyed a great crowd, tasty reception, and attentive and enthusiastic audience. Afterwards, we staffed a table to sell and autograph copies of the book and visit with fellow lovers of history. We even committed to donating half our book profits back to the library. What a wonderful partnership. I was honored and delighted. We'll hopefully share some video clips next week. Your Advice -- Also, FYI - I'm planning to adapt the library presentation to an online program. I think I might break it into 10-15 five-minute episodes for a podcast type experience. Maybe audio only? Or simple video? YouTube? What's easiest to access and enjoy for you? If you've got any input or advice, please reply to this email. We're hoping to return to the Library for a similar event in the coming months to share my new Declaration of Independenc presentation. It is already a hit onboard the cruises. It's a fascinating story so perfect for America's 250. I'm hoping to speak to more groups. Speaking of which... Recommend Us for Events: If you ever have opportunity to recommend or contract a speaker or entertainers for an organization event or corporate meeting, please keep us in mind. Our dates get booked pretty far in advance, but we're also considering more live online presentations made possible by Zoom/Teams/FaceTime, etc. We also can package presentations with our entertainment offerings for piano/vocal music (background cocktail , themed stage shows), and/or magician (closeup, strolling, lounge, or stage show), and more. NEXT WEEK Next week, we’ll continue moving westward through the story of America’s expansion, with more dramatic moments, new figures, and the unfolding story of a growing nation as our western expansion to feature our History Highlights book about "The Oregon Trail." In this book we will focus on the brave Americans who endured incredible hardships to start a new life in the West and ultimately make that region part of the United States. Don't miss it! Have a great week! Bill and Laura |
